Auctioneer will help castle artworks go under the hammer after trail

A leading auctioneer is pledging its support to the Castles in the Sky art trail by fundraising for the Wales Air Ambulance and offering its services for free when the castles go ‘under the hammer’.

Kingsland Auction Services, which is based in Leominster, Herefordshire, initially contacted the Charity to see how it could help raise vital funds for the service.

When it heard about the Castles in the Sky art trail, it not only wanted to commit to pledging money through fundraising, but also offer a platform to auction the castles at the end of the event.

The Castles in the Sky art trail will see beautifully decorated forts dotted around Swansea this summer, each one designed by a specially commissioned artist.

Once the 10-week trail finishes, Kingsland Auction Services will be assisting in the auction of the captivating castle themed artworks, and it hopes to source a celebrity auctioneer to help raise the profile of the sale.

The auction will provide art enthusiasts and businesses the opportunity to acquire the one-of-a-kind pieces and help raise funds to the Wales Air Ambulance, which provides lifesaving services to those in need across Wales.

Oliver Burton, Managing Director of Kingsland Auction Services, said: “We have close to 50,000 customers and a huge number of them come over from the Welsh borders to bid in our auctions.

“We chose the Wales Air Ambulance as we love the work the service does. The Charity is so expensive to operate but can make such a difference to someone’s life. It’s a brilliant cause and we are pleased to support it and have our name on a castle at the event.

“We were looking for a Charity to support this year and we reached out to the fundraising team to see how we could help, and it was perfect timing that we found out about the Castles in the Sky art trail. It sounds like a good free family event for a fantastic cause.

“We will be putting the auction together and putting the castles for sale on our platform and our aim is to maximise the amount of money we can raise for the Charity.”

Kingsland Auction Services also has a pop-up shop, and a card reader for donations to the Charity and it is hoping to get some of its suppliers and staff involved in various fundraising attempts across the business throughout the year.

Oliver added: “We are really keen to support and are looking forward to helping the cause. We are really excited about the Castles in the Sky campaign.”
